Are the banks open tomorrow? I know FedEx isn't delivering.
This would be the perfect moment for a brilliant and somewhat evil businessman to stage a train renaissance in the US. The somewhat evil comes in because part of the obvious strategy for building support would be to use his influence to make the TSA even more intrusive, ineffectual and annoying.
What kind of day has it been:
03:00 Sancho! My armor! My sword! #
07:36 Despite the holiday logout, I'm one pound lighter. Will take that as neutral weight gain. Diet must be working. #
Automatically stabbed through your living brain by LoudTwitterOkay, last rec of the week! I've really enjoyed reccing for all of you - I hope you've enjoyed it too!
Story: Servitude
Author: dragonessa24 or
dragonessa24 on LJ
Rating: All Ages
Word Count: 686
Author's Summary: “The TARDIS and her relationship with Time.”
Characters/Pairings: The TARDIS
Warnings: None.
Recced because: To finish off the week, I've got a TARDIS-centric story by another brand-new author on the Teaspoon. I ran across "Servitude" while randomly poking round LJ, and promptly asked Dragonessa24 "Do you have a Teaspoon account? Because I've got to rec this."
As we all know, the TARDIS is a living being, and the Doctor is not her master - he's her friend and partner in adventure. Her master, or rather mistress, is Time. Dragonessa24 shows us beautifully the nature of both relationships, and finishes by breaking our hearts. This is quite possibly one of the best TARDIS fics in existence.

At harknessstills a lot of challenges are themed based, which means that you can icon Jack alongside any characters (including rarer OTPs!) The current challenge is here :)
The 2009
prettylightsfic archive is up. I got ophelia, you are so well-read, an Ellen Page/Anna Paquin story which inhabits Ellen in a way which is fun and hip, and includes X-Men 3 set antics and a romance which is fraught with the uncertainty of an early relationship. Awesome.
The first five people to correctly guess which story I wrote will get a ficlet. Only the first five because, well.
Comments are screened; comments which aren't guesses will be unscreened unless you tell me not to.

This spoiler-trailer-teaser-next-time thing has me overcome with mad glee.
( SPOILARZ, for 'The End of Time' (part one) and also the aforementioned trailer. )

Oh, something I am glad about (it's ruined five seconds later, naturally, but NEVER MIND) ( spoilers for End of Time II )
So we did some Boxing Bay shopping, looking for deals. We stopped in at the Best Buy on Fairway. Parking there is always a bear and today we should just parked in Fairview and walked over. Unfortunately thos only became clear once it was impossible to change our minds.
Part of getting into the lot involves driving down a somewhat narrow road. To one side there is a hill, which had been turned into a sea of mud by people using it as parking. As we were driving, someone in a truck crested the top of the hill, clearly convinced a truck can drive anywhere, hit the mud and then slid sideways towards the two lanes of traffic in the lane. He hit the bottom and the edge of the paved lane, teetered for a bit and then settled on all four tires before proceeding on his way.
Then the second truck appeared. Rinse, lather and repeat, again narrowly missing a collision with traffic because the hard edge of the lane stopped the wheels abruptly.
This was pretty nerve-wracking from my side of the road so I can't imagine what it was for the people on the other side, the people who were in cars inadvertently serving as shields for my side.
Once we were in we had no trouble finding parking around the side, in a legal, marked spot.
I made a point of mentioning the problem and was directed to someone I assume was in authority. He told me that they did not have the man-power to deal with the problem. As far as I know, nothing was done. This was about 3 PM.

Title: Respite
Summary: In the hours between Sheridan's return to the fleet and his move to the Agamemnon, there is rest.
Rating: PG-13
Pairing: Sheridan/Delenn
Notes: Scenes cunningly inserted into "Between the Darkness and the Light" with callous disregard for internal timelines. Interest to people who don't want to draw sparkly hearts around the OTP and squish them together and go squee: non-existent.
( This came within a hair's breadth of being Nick Cave songfic. Sometimes I even embarrass myself. )

Story: Too Long in a Cage
Author: Primsong or
primsong on LJ
Rating: All Ages
Word Count: 1336
Author's Summary: "Did they really think they could hold him? Four vignettes."
Characters/Pairings: First Doctor, Second Doctor, Third Doctor, Fourth Doctor
Warnings: None.
Recced because: Primsong is one of the best Classic Who writers in the fandom. Most of her stories have already been recced on this comm, but the ones that haven't took me all day trying to decide which one to rec!
I finally settled on "Too Long in a Cage", her exploration of the Doctor's personality over his first four lives. Four short vignettes follow him from leaving Gallifrey, through "The War Games" and through his exile, to "Robot" and his new discovery of freedom.
"Too Long in a Cage" is another of those stories every fan should read - from those who saw Troughton's lost stories on first run, to the youngest Tennant fangirls, and everyone in between - anyone who loves the Doctor will enjoy Primsong's loving portrayal of his early years in this fic.
(And if you're not yet familiar with Classic Who, there's no better introduction than Primsong! I know whereof I speak; I was quite prepared to dislike the Third Doctor till I got hold of her writing. And just look at me now! *huggles plushie!Three*)

This time, it's full of holiday cheer!
